NAFEM responds to EPA request for rulemaking process improvements

On August 13, NAFEM submitted comments to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Advance Notice of Proposed Rulemaking – Increasing Consistency and Transparency in Considering Costs and Benefits in the Rulemaking Process.

In the comments, NAFEM encouraged EPA to strive for:

  • transparency to ensure appropriate cost-benefit reviews are conducted fairly and based on facts; and
  • retrospective reviews especially when a statute contains anti-backsliding provisions.
