New Commercial Appliance Recovery Society to support members selling in Quebec

A new nonprofit organization (NPO) – the Commercial Appliance Recovery Society (SORAC) – is developing and implementing an extended-producer responsibility program for commercial and institutional refrigeration and freezer equipment in compliance with Recyc-Quebec (R-Q) requirements.R-Q gave the working group a 90-day extension to launch an accredited program by Sept. 1. Minnesota helps fund reduced refrigerant emissions

Minnesota’s Pollution Control Agency has budgeted $110,000 for grants of up to $20,000 for retail businesses that replace existing refrigeration equipment with new equipment that uses a refrigerant with at least 50% less Global Warming Potential (GWP). Eligible business must have 250 or fewer employees and are required to match at least 25% of the total project cost. Applications are due August 31.
