State-by-state guide to legislative activity

November 26, 2019

The National Conference on State Legislatures (NCSL) is a bipartisan, nongovernmental organization created in 1975 that serves members and staff of U.S. state, territories and commonwealth legislatures. NCSL works to improve the effectiveness of state legislatures by promoting policy innovation and communication, and ensuring that states have a strong, cohesive voice in the federal system.

NCSL’s website includes several convenient resources:

  • The bill-tracking database is an excellent resource of information on bills from 2015 and later addressing topics from autonomous vehicles to unemployment;
  • The website includes a link to state legislative websites; and,
  • A legislative session calendar for all states, territories and commonwealths.
