The North American Association of Food Equipment Manufacturers (NAFEM) and The Culinary Institute of America (CIA) announce that Adam Busby, CMC , CHE, general manager of the CIA at Greystone, has been named NAFEM Professor at the college.
“We’re excited to begin work with Chef Busby and other faculty experts to explore opportunities on ways commercial foodservice equipment and supplies manufacturers and culinarians can share information,” said Deirdre Flynn, CFSP, NAFEM’s executive vice president.
Chef Busby adds the NAFEM Professor role to his current responsibilities as general manager of the CIA’s campus in St. Helena, CA, where he is responsible for the day-to-day operations and general oversight of the college’s historic facility in the heart of the Napa Valley. Busby is both a Certified Master Chef (CMC) and Certified Hospitality Educator (CHE). Among his duties as NAFEM Professor will be to facilitate the launch of a CIA student externship program involving select NAFEM member companies. The hands-on field experience will expose participating students to the equipment and supplies side of the food business.
The appointment of Chef Busby brings fresh perspective to the NAFEM/CIA partnership, which began in 2010 and has been renewed through 2020. Chef Busby assumes the role of NAFEM Professor from fellow CMC Brad Barnes, director of CIA Consulting and Industry programs, who served in this capacity since the program began.
“The NAFEM/CIA partnership represents a critical way to improve commercial kitchen operations and raise understanding of the equipment and supplies chefs need for success,” Chef Busby said. “After visiting The NAFEM Show recently, I’m looking forward to furthering our relationship.”
