Recruitment resources for your business

November 27, 2017

NAFEM’s Member Needs Assessment (MNA) survey provided us with a wealth of information of what’s most important to our members — and also what challenges them most. Ranked as one of the highest issues was our members’ ability to find and recruit qualified employees for their businesses. Like many other industries, the long-term growth and continued success of the foodservice equipment & supplies industry is tied directly to its ability to attract bright, enthusiastic new employees. So, we included questions in the MNA to specifically address this — and the responses were positive:

  • When asked about developing relationships with colleges and trade schools to help promote the industry and career paths for young people, 87% marked this as somewhat or very important.
  • When asked about developing an online tool to help match young job seekers with NAFEM member companies, 79% said they would use it if it became available.

NAFEM has already made progress toward addressing this second point. We’ve developed a relationship a with a community college to build a model program and have growing relationships with New Orleans Culinary & Hospitality Institute (NOCHI) as well as The Culinary Institute of America (CIA).
