Amplifying members’ voices

NAFEM regularly joins forces with other organizations to advance the industry’s perspective with elected and appointed officials. Highlights of recent outreach follow.

  • NAFEM joined with many other industry associations in urging President Biden to nominate Federal Maritime Commissioner Carl Bentzel for another term. “The work of the Commission is more important than ever as we continue to witness supply chain disruptions. Commissioner Bentzel has been at the heart of the agency’s work on these issues.”
  • House and Senate leaders heard from NAFEM and several other organizations, including the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, encouraging them to include fiscal commission legislation in any final FY 24 appropriations bill or other viable legislation. “With the national debt topping $34 trillion, the legislation would empower a bipartisan, bicameral commission to identify and propose a comprehensive package of solutions to America’s fiscal crisis.”
  • NAFEM and more than 100 organizations representing millions of small businesses urged the Senate Committee on Banking to delay by one year filing deadlines of the Corporate Transparency Act, as the House has already done. The delay would give the court process time to reach a conclusion and for the business community to become educated on its reporting obligations.
