CRE dockets in Federal Register

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) proposed rulemaking for energy conservation standards for commercial refrigerators, freezers and refrigerator-freezers appeared in the Federal Register. Comments are due Dec. 11.

DOE’s final rule on test procedures for commercial refrigeration was posted to the Federal Register. The effective date is October 26, 2023, and new requirements will be mandatory for equipment testing starting Sept. 20, 2024.

DOE marches forward with aggressive agenda

NAFEM is currently tracking numerous DOE dockets potentially impacting automatic commercial ice makers (ACIM), commercial refrigeration equipment (CRE), and walk-in coolers/freezers (WIC/F). These and three final rules for CRE and WIC/F are covered in What We’re Watching, which is posted monthly to nafem.org. When there is new information on any of these dockets, we’ll include it in Advocacy Update.
