EPA announces 2024 HFC allocations

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) 2024 refrigerant allocation rules required under the American Innovation and Manufacturing (AIM) Act have been published in the Federal Register and are now final. The AIM Act directs the EPA to address hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) by phasing down the production and consumption of listed HFCs, managing these HFCs and their substitutes, and facilitating the transition to next-generation technologies.


PA considers charging manufacturers for GHG emissions over a set limit

As another example of states aggressively pursuing greenhouse gas emissions (GHGs) reduction, the Pennsylvania House introduced PA HB 2907 that proposes to establish a fee on manufacturers that produce an average of more than 25,000 metric tons of GHG emissions. The proposed fee is $20 per metric ton of GHG emitted into the atmosphere annually.
