Combined ENERGY STAR® energy/safety audits to expand to ovens, dishwashers

At the October ASTM meeting, Brian Krausz from ENERGY STAR provided an update on the program’s efforts to expand the NAFEM-led successful steam cooker component inspection project that combined safety and energy audits to ovens and dishwashers. By mid-December, the agency intends to identify initial certifying bodies to take part in the expanded program. By mid-January, ENERGY STAR expects to have a final list of products covered by the new component-inspection method. The steam cooker project launched in 2015 and two years later, ENERGY STAR released Directive #2017-01, Component Inspection of ENERGY STAR Certified Steam Cookers. NAFEM continues to advocate for expanding the program to other product categories.
