DOE evaluating potential new energy-saving standards

In its suggested updates to the Process Rule (see related article in the NAFEM in Action section), DOE proposed to define an energy-saving threshold to satisfy the Energy Policy and Conservation Act requirement that a new or amended energy conservation standard must result in significant conservation of energy. DOE issued a notice of data availability (NODA) to allow input on the proposed thresholds and to help inform its decision about whether to establish new significant energy savings standards for consumer products and commercial and industrial equipment. The comment period closes Aug. 30. More information is available in the Federal Register notice.
