As the next step in expanding the Energy Star® steam cooker project that combined safety and energy audits to dishwashers and ovens, NAFEM arranged for the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Energy Star® team to meet with a UL field inspector and observe a safety audit. This will allow the team, who are all new to the project since the successful steam cooker pilot, to consider how the safety audit dovetails with current energy verification audits. NAFEM member Vulcan hosted the meeting in Baltimore. Vulcan is a division of the ITW Food Equipment Group that has been recognized by ENERGY STAR® as Partner of the Year for 11 consecutive years since 2008.
